During the latter half of the 19th century women began participating on more sports than had been seen in earlier periods. As a result, new forms of corset had to be developed to accommodate this. Corsets such as this where made to cut under the bust to allow for more movement while wearing. This style would have been used for riding and other active sports. Lighter versions were also made for boudoir use.
This corset features • A centre front short busk with an under bust height. • Genuine Steel Spiral boning is throughout • English cotton coutil base layer • Gold-cream Dupion silk top fabric. • It is lined in a fine cotton. • The under bust line is trimmed with cotton lace and satin ribbon with a finer cotton lace trimming the hip line. • The centre back has lacing with two-piece painted nickel grommets.
These corsets have a gentle nip in the waist, smooth across the upper hips and lower rib cage. It provides no support to the bust. The corset has also been deigned to fit comfortably on a modern body.
The corset will fit standard UK size 10. Waist reduction – 5cm (2inch) Max Total
