Stays of the 1780's to 1790's Flattened the bust and pushed it upwards into the chest. Stays of this period did not have the strength to pull the waist, like Victorian era corsets did, so as a result sat snug against the waist without reducing it too much. The effect was achieved with the tabs around the waistline splaying out over the hips giving the illusion of a smaller waist. Although may stays were becoming practical and plain, some older more decorative pieces still were being used. This pair of stays are fully hand stitched.
It features • A full front fixed stomacher detail with a mid-bust height. • Double reed Fully boned through-out. • Fine silk Dupion top fabric with a cotton lining. • Dupion silk ribbon detail on the front stomacher and matching silk binding on the top and bottom edges and seam covers. • All the eyelets on the centre back and the front are fully hand stitched. • Hand embroidery at the bust points and tabs.
The corset will fit standard size 10.
